Then Gideon finally opens up to Eva and tells her about what happened to him. When she was telling her off, I was so proud of her!! Then the confrontation with the doctor who lied about it (and a pediatrician no less!!) It was great to see her taking the reins in this instead of waiting for him to tell her. I really like her dad though! It’s sad that he and her Mom obviously love each other but aren’t together ?Įva had started to piece together some things throughout the book and I applaud her for sticking up for Gideon with his Mom. I don’t know how you keep something like that a secret from you Dad especially when other people less close to her DO know. I will say that I think it is so wrong that her Dad doesn’t know what happend to her. This of course explains why he was pulling away he needed to get his ducks in a row.
I had a feeling that it was Gideon who did the killing but I wasn’t sure. Anyone that sick would only spread his ugliness around and no one deserves that. This will probably make me sound like a really bad person, but I’m glad that he got dead. It’s slow going and she’s not completely successful but once they learn that Nathan was killed, I think she was able to let go of something that has been holding her back for a long time. We get to see her pick herself back up and work to keep her life moving forward. It was a good character building experience for Eva. The way Day describes the way Eva is feeling (and even Gideon to a certain extent) is unbelievable. This was a terribly emotional bit for me. Eventually she has to let him go, she doesn’t really see any other choice. Eva has no idea what is happening and he won’t tell her anything (as per usual). When they get home and find out that Cary was attacked, everything goes to hell! Not only is Cary hospitalized but Gideon has completely pulled away. Just time alone together, which I thought was so good for them. Then they spend a wonderful weekend together in North Carolina without any phones or internet. Anyway, after the fight Gideon gets Eva to admit that she kissed Brett on purpose so he would know how she felt when he spent time with Corrine. I can, however, see him stalking slow and deadly to promptly kick Brett’s ass but not the running bit). (This was one part of the book that I actually cringed at, Day had Gideon running and attacking Brett Kline and I just can’t see that from Gideon. Eva has a run in with one of her ex-boyfriends at a concert with Gideon that doesn’t end well for anyone.
She doesn’t wholly trust Gideon yet but mostly because of her own insecurities and he doesn’t wholly trust her for the same reasons. Of course Corrine is involved in this book (the bitch) and this causes Eva no end of aggravation. Gideon and Eva seem to be doing reasonably well, still trying to adjust to being in such an intense relationship and Eva is still trying to get Gideon to tell her about his past. Things seem to be going pretty well, Eva and Cary spend a weekend together in Vegas which seemed to provide them both with some good together time, which I think they needed. Gideon is his usual controlling, sexy and overpowering self (which I love in the book but probably wouldn’t love so much in my own husband lol) and Eva is her usual confused self. And of course there was more molten sex! In an airplane, at a concert, in the car, in the bed and shower and just about everywhere else! It was another beautifully written book by Day.īook 2 picks up right where book 1 left off, the night after Gideon and Eva leave Cary at their apartment after Cary’s little orgy. I was really angry and confused and hurt all in the space of several hours. This was the most emotional and intense book I’ve read in a really long time. The only thing that keeps running through my head is WOW. I just downloaded this book this morning and finished it tonight. They both fit the mood of this book perfectly. Sometimes, you need good music to read to and for this book (about half way through it anyway) I listened to John Mayer’s Slow Dancing in a Burning Room and In Your Atmosphere. There are going to be a lot of spoilers in this review, so if you haven’t read it yet, don’t read any further. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. It was too hard, too painful… except when it was perfect. My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. He was my addiction… my every desire… mine. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside.
